Receiving AAFG E-Mails

GMail has, unfortunately, become very aggressive about categorizing incoming e-mail as Spam. As it is also a very popular choice for e-mail accounts, we have a problem making sure AAF&G members receive e-mails that the Club sends out.

Please follow the directions below to make sure AAF&G e-mails get delivered to your INBOX and do not end up in your spam folder. Note that you must be logged in to GMail using a desktop (or laptop) Web browser to do the steps below; you can not set filters using a smartphone app or mobile website.

If you need help setting up a Spam whitelist for a different e-mail provider, please send an inquiry through the Contact Form and we will try to help.

Whitelist AAFG.ORG in GMail

(These instructions are adapted from simplelists.com.)

First, login using a web browser and select the cogwheel icon in the upper right corner of the screen, then select ‘Settings’ from the drop-down menu.

Cogwheel → Settings

Next, select ‘Filters’ on the dialog box that appears, then click ‘Create a new filter’ at the bottom of the dialog.

Filters → Create a new filter

Copy and paste the following text into the ‘From’ box in the next page:
@aafg.org|@lists.aafg.org
Then click ‘Create filter’ at the bottom of the page.

From ‘@aafg.org|@lists.aafg.org’ → Create filter

On the next page, check the box for ‘Never send it to Spam’ and then click the ‘Create filter’ button at the bottom to complete the process.

Never send it to Spam → Create filter

This will take you back to the ‘Filters’ page on the ‘Settings’ menu, where you should see your new filter.

The finished result.

Now any email sent from AAF&G will show up in your GMail INBOX.
