Range Rules

Gun Safety

Firearms will always be treated as if they are loaded. All shooting shall be in accordance with the three NRA Fundamental Rules of Gun Safety:

  1. Shooters will always keep muzzles pointed in a safe direction.
  2. Shooters will always keep their fingers off the trigger and out of the trigger guard until ready to shoot.
  3. Shooters will always keep firearms unloaded until ready to use them

Range Use & Safety

Important: There has been some confusion regarding concealed handguns in the new range rules. Please read General Rules III.F and III.P very carefully. Those with lawfully concealed handguns are only allowed to remove the gun from the holster in order to unload and make safe. The only range that permits drawing and firing a loaded handgun is the Action Pistol Range, and that applies only to members who have been certified by the Action Pistol Committee Chair according to the current range SOPs.

Safety is paramount at Anne Arundel Fish & Game (AAF&G). All members, their guests, and participants at public events are expected to observe these range rules without exception. Additionally, Members are expected to observe all policies published in the AAF&G Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Any questions regarding these rules may be addressed to any AAF&G Range Safety Officer (RSO) or the Chief RSO.

Violation of Club rules or policies may result in immediate expulsion from the range and discipline by the Board of Directors, up to and including dismissal from membership and/or loss of visitation privileges. Anyone observing a violation shall inform those involved that their actions are in violation of Club rules. Continued or repeated violations must be reported to the Chief RSO.

A new set of range rules went into effect on 12 February, 2024. Please make sure to familiarize yourself with them. The REDLINE version highlights the differences between the previous set of range rules and these current rules.
